We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist
to support a State Government department on a short-term contract based in Burwood. This role will suit a procurement professional with strong Victorian Government experience, ideally with exposure to IT procurement
in a government setting.
You will manage end-to-end procurement activities, support internal stakeholders, and ensure all sourcing and contract activities align with government policies, probity requirements, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver end-to-end procurement activities, from planning through to contract execution
- Prepare sourcing strategies, RFX documentation, and manage releases to market
- Facilitate market briefings, clarifications, evaluation panel processes, scoring, and consensus
- Support contract negotiations and execution, including preparation of reports and briefs for senior stakeholders
- Develop 12–24 month procurement pipeline plans and analyse category spend data
- Ensure procurement activities comply with Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB) policies and legislative requirements
- Support the development and implementation of category strategies, policies, and procedures
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and Legal Counsel to support contract documentation, including agreements, variations, extensions, and MOUs
- Assist contract managers with contract monitoring, identifying risks and emerging issues, and providing commercial advice
- Maintain accurate procurement and contract records within contract management systems and data repositories
- Implement and maintain procurement tools, systems, and reporting to improve visibility and efficiency
- Share knowledge and mentor team members as required
- Support audit activity through accurate documentation, templates, and remedial action.
- Demonstrated experience in State Government procurement(Victorian Government preferred)
- Strong experience managing complex and non-complex procurements end-to-end
- IT procurement experience highly regarded
- Solid understanding of VGPB policies, probity, and public sector procurement frameworks
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet tight timeframes
