About the Role
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of procurement activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Government procurement guidelines, and Council policies. You'll lead the development of tenders, quotations, and contracts, and ensure probity, transparency, and fairness throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contract documents to ensure value for money outcomes.
- Develop and manage procurement documents including RFTs, RFQs, and EOIs.
- Ensure tendering and contracting processes comply with all relevant legislation and policies.
- Lead evaluation panels and coordinate procurement reporting.
- Prepare contract documents and facilitate post-tender debriefs.
- Identify process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and customer service.
- Manage procurement risks while promoting innovative practices.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.
We’re looking for a procurement professional who is:
- Experienced in public sector procurement or large-scale private sector projects.
- Skilled in managing multiple procurement processes simultaneously.
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Analytical, organised, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
- Sound knowledge of local government procurement frameworks, tendering, and quotation processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication, including report writing.
- Proven experience in managing procurement from planning through to contract award.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced problem-solving, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or Certificate IV/Diploma in Government Procurement and Contracting (or equivalent experience).
- Familiarity with electronic tendering and contract management systems.
- Understanding of the Local Government Act 1993 and associated regulations.
