Lead Strategic Hazard Planning
This role offers the opportunity to deliver complex natural hazard and climate resilience planning projects that shape sustainable land use and protect communities. You will provide technical expertise and strategic advice to influence policy and planning outcomes in a rapidly evolving environment.
Position Overview
The Principal Planner - Natural Hazards is responsible for leading strategic flood risk and coastal hazard risk assessment projects. The role requires providing strategic and technical direction to external consultants, reviewing technical reports, and integrating risk-based land use planning outcomes into development policy responses. This position plays a critical role in ensuring resilience and safety across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver complex natural hazard and climate resilience planning projects to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Provide strategic and technical direction to external consultants and review technical reports.
- Integrate risk assessment outcomes into land use and development policy responses.
Mandatory Requirements
- Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in natural hazards planning, flood and coastal risk assessment, and strategic policy development.
- High-level knowledge of planning legislation and climate resilience strategies.
- Current Class C driver’s licence.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong leadership and project management capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to deliver outcomes in time-critical and complex environments.
Contract Details
- Hourly Rate: $68 plus superannuation
- Location: Caboolture
- Contract until 30 April 2026
