About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Engineer specialising in Floodplain Management to join a infrastructure planning team. This position is key to managing flood risks and supporting community safety within the local area. The role involves complex investigations, technical advice, and contributing to floodplain infrastructure projects. It’s a chance to have a real impact on community resilience and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical engineering advice on floodplain management matters.
- Develop and maintain flood modelling tools and data products used for decision-making.
- Investigate complex flood scenarios and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
- Undertake flood studies to support infrastructure projects and long-term planning.
- Coordinate floodplain infrastructure projects, including design, costing, and securing approvals.
- Manage flood-related databases and analyse flood data to inform planning and hazard overlays.
- Support the operation of the Flood Warning System during extreme weather events.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to improve floodplain services and outcomes.
- Contribute to team capability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Selection Criteria
- Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
- Comprehensive experience in floodplain management infrastructure planning and design
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in floodplain management
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation and presentation of complex technical reports and recommendations
- Excellent communication skills with various stakeholders.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
- A current C class driver’s licence.
- (Desirable) RPEQ registration.
