We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Workplace Relations professional to lead strategic initiatives, manage complex employee and industrial relations matters, and foster a positive, compliant work environment within a dynamic organization. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an essential public service organization supporting communities across the region.
As a Principal Consultant, you will provide expert advice on industrial relations issues, handle disputes and grievances, facilitate enterprise bargaining processes, and work collaboratively across departments to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation. Your leadership will help cultivate a respectful, safe, and high-performing workplace culture aligned with organizational values.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in industrial relations within large, complex organizations.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, industrial instruments, and Fair Work Commission procedures.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to provide high-level technical HR advice and develop workplace strategies.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret legislation, case law, and workplace data.
- Leadership experience, including team coaching and relationship building.
- Legal qualifications in HR, Law, or Industrial Relations.
- Experience working in emergency services, government agencies, or similar sectors.
- Certifications in dispute resolution or mediation.
- Familiarity with recognized job evaluation methodologies.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Law, or Industrial Relations.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior workplace relations role within a large organization.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for stakeholder engagement or external hearings.
- Dedication to maintaining ethical standards, confidentiality, and community service.
