The Opportunity
We’re seeking a dynamic Practice Manager to lead operations at our Newcastle Clinic. You’ll manage a diverse team of 15 staff including Medical Officers, Registered Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, and Client Support Officers. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for clinical throughput, operational performance, and maintaining a positive workplace culture.

This is a high-priority, urgent role with an immediate start, offering a pathway from casual engagement to permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day clinic operations and manage multi-site outreach services

  • Ensure optimal patient flow and maximise occasions of service

  • Oversee staff rostering, performance management, and professional development

  • Support retention of Medical Officers through engagement and effective workforce planning

  • Manage budgets, Medicare billing, and operational KPIs

  • Drive continuous improvement, quality, and compliance initiatives

  • Uphold human rights values across all aspects of service delivery

Essential Criteria

  • Proven leadership experience in primary care, community health, or medical practice management

  • Strong people management skills with ability to manage a team of 15 staff

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to analyse operational performance and implement improvements

  • Familiarity with Medicare billing, Best Practice/Hot Doc, or similar patient management systems

  • NSW Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout NSW

  • Australian working rights

Desirable

  • Clinical background or experience in sexual/reproductive health

  • Experience managing multi-site operations or NGOs

  • Knowledge of NSQHS Standards, Clinical Governance, and accreditation processes
