We are seeking motivated and qualified individuals to become Possession Protection Officers, playing a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient working environments across complex mining operations. What You’ll Do:
- Assist in planning and executing safeworking activities for multi-contractor obstructions across inland and coastal operations.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including Train Control, Network Specialists, and Planning departments, to facilitate obstruction planning and safe execution.
- Support RTIO’s Renewals, Maintenance, and Major Projects teams by ensuring all safeworking activities comply with operational rules and safety legislation.
- Participate in infield interactions, inspections, and audits to evaluate and engage safeworking personnel for compliance.
- Manage engagement, performance, and quality of safeworking services delivered by contract partners.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous safety improvement by embracing new technologies and best practices.
- Coach, mentor, and train safeworking personnel from M1 to M5 levels, including signing off safeworking logbooks as a recognised On-Job Trainer.
- Provide practical infield coaching, support interpretation of RTIO Rules of Operation (ROR), and assist with the practical application of procedures.
- Proactively communicate safety initiatives and improvement opportunities with stakeholders and assist in developing site safety management plans.
- Sound understanding of safeworking procedures and regulations within the mining industry.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to assess practical skills of safeworking personnel; mentoring and coaching skills.
- Attention to detail with a focus on safety, compliance, and quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in multi-contractor environments.
- Knowledge of RTIO operating rules and safety legislation.
- Familiarity with infield safety audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or training role within safeworking teams.
- Proven experience in safeworking or a related safety role within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Qualification to Safeworking M5 Level is highly desirable; relevant safety certifications are advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams effectively.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development programs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including potentially remote or field-based environments.
- Positive safety mindset and commitment to fostering a safety-driven culture.
