Our client is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Planning and Assessment Officer to join their team on a temporary 6-month basis. If you enjoy analytical work, engaging with stakeholders, and contributing to the planning of Western Australia’s transport network, this role offers a great opportunity to grow your skills and make a meaningful impact.

About the Role


As a Planning and Assessment Officer, you will support the assessment and review of a wide range of applications, referrals, and general planning enquiries. These submissions come from applicants, Local Governments, and other key stakeholders.

You’ll use a variety of internal systems and information sources to research, analyse and prepare high‑quality responses that ensure planning and network requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, review, and respond to planning applications and referrals
  • Provide clear, informed advice on planning-related enquiries
  • Undertake detailed research and analysis using multiple systems and datasets
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of assessment processes
Essential Skills & Experience

We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
  • Strong research, analysis, and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Ability to build and enhance stakeholder relationships
  • Understanding of traffic and transport planning policies and relevant systems
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • Working towards or completion of a Diploma in Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline
  • Previous public sector experience
