Planning Advisor – Local Government Contract
As a Planning Advisor, you’ll play a key role in assessing development applications, preparing reports, and supporting planning processes. This three-month engagement offers flexibility to work remotely within a collaborative environment focused on community and environmental excellence.
Engagement Details:
- Type: Labour hire engagement
- Location: Remote
- Period: Approximately 3 months (January 2026 – 30 April 2026), with potential extension
- Hours: Up to 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8am–5pm). Additional hours require prior approval
- Rate:$80 per hour
- Equipment: Use of own laptop preferred
What You Will Do:
- Write delegate reports for development applications across various types (Material Change of Use, Reconfiguration of a Lot, Boundary Realignment, Building Works, Referral Agency Responses, Exemption Certificates)
- Prepare information requests as required
- Draft conditions of approval
- Prepare grounds of refusal
- Liaise with the Development Assessment team to ensure accurate and timely outputs
Ideal Candidate Skills:
- Strong knowledge of statutory planning and development assessment procedures
- Significant experience in town planning with a solid understanding of local and state planning frameworks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interpret legislation and translate technical information into clear advice
Nice to Have:
- Experience with legal proceedings related to planning disputes
- Familiarity with process mapping and document management
- Previous remote working experience with minimal supervision
- Certification or accreditation in town planning or related fields
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related discipline
- Proven track record of at least 3–5 years in planning or development assessment roles
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex development applications
