Permit Officer

Join a progressive local government as a Permits Officer in Coburg, earning $46.21 per hour. This full-time role is available ASAP and runs until 20th February. You will be responsible for assessing and approving permits for roadworks and activities impacting traffic flow, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards. Contribute to community safety and infrastructure integrity within a supportive team committed to excellence.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified in worksite Traffic Management Designer Skill Set (TMD1 - RIISS00063)
  • Proven experience assessing traffic management plans and permits
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation (e.g., Road Safety Act, Road Management Act) and Australian Standards AS1742.3
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer service best practices
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience working on road sites
  • Knowledge of local laws and public land approval processes
  • Additional project management or stakeholder engagement experience
Preferred Experience:
  • Hands-on experience in traffic management at roadworks
  • High-pressure customer service, managing complex interactions
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, including heights and confined spaces
  • Commitment to health and safety, environmental sustainability, and community wellbeing
  • Valid traffic management certifications and permits
