About the Role
We’re looking for enthusiastic Payroll Officers interested in future casual assignments with the SA Government. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who enjoy a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and want to be part of a team that makes a difference. The role is primarily focused on processing payroll for education staff using the Chris21 system, with casual opportunities available throughout the year to suit flexible work arrangements. It’s an ideal chance to gain experience within the public sector and develop your payroll skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process pay files and ensure timely payroll processing for education staff.
  • Handle various pay-related transactions, including overtime, penalties, and mileage claims.
  • Manage data entry tasks such as updating employee master data and coding timesheets.
  • Resolve complex pay queries with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with team members and clients via phone and email to deliver top-notch service.
  • Work both independently and as part of the team to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Collaborate to achieve team goals and contribute to continuous improvement.
About You

  • Experience in customer service or call centres, with strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with data entry at a minimum of 40 wpm and intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Previous payroll experience or knowledge of the Chris21 system is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and adapt in a busy environment.
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy, especially in high-volume workload scenarios.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism.
  • A current National Police Clearance is required to be considered for this role.
