Payroll Officer
$55 per hour + Super | 3–6 Month Contract | Full Time Hours Preferred (Part Time Considered)

We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join a supportive People & Culture team for a short-term contract (3–6 months). This role will manage the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in line with legislative and enterprise agreement requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process using Ascender or APay systems.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax, superannuation, and the STL Enterprise Agreement.
  • Process executive and director remuneration accurately and confidentially.
  • Manage allowances, employee records, onboarding/offboarding, and pay variations.
  • Handle investigations and resolve complex payroll, leave, tax, and super issues.
  • Complete payroll journals, reconciliations, and reporting including WorkCover, Payroll Tax, and STP.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll policies, procedures, and audit documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
About You:
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ascender or APay payroll systems (essential).
  • Confident interpreting Awards, Agreements, and employment legislation.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
