Our client works towards keeping WA flowing. They are committed to delivering sustainable water services to communities across the state and are looking for a talented professional to step into a part time 3-month assignment in the position of Category Management Specialist. In this role, you’ll provide specialist category management advice and services across high-value, complex, and strategic procurement categories—helping to maximise commercial outcomes while managing risk and ensuring safety.
What you’ll be doing
- Conducting research and supply market analysis to develop commercially advantageous sourcing strategies.
- Partnering with contract owners, stakeholders, and leadership to align sourcing strategies with corporate goals.
- Maintaining a strong understanding of business process value chains and technical requirements to inform commercial outcomes.
- Leading commercial negotiations and working closely with Legal on contract departures and agreements.
- Acting as the client’s representative on notices, variations, amendments, and disputes to safeguard our interests.
- Coaching and mentoring colleagues on category management processes.
- Managing supplier performance and contract outcomes for large and complex arrangements.
We’d love to see applications from candidates who bring:
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic sourcing and category management.
- Significant experience in sourcing and supplier negotiations for complex, high-value contracts.
- Strong capability in preparing procurement documentation such as sourcing strategies, procurement plans, recommendations for award, and board papers.
- Post-award contract and supplier performance management expertise.
- Background in a large, multi-disciplined or geographically dispersed organisation—experience in engineering, mining, infrastructure, or utilities is highly regarded.
- Degree qualifications in Commerce, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Knowledge of WA Public Sector Procurement (desirable).
