Operations Director

Vulcanic TEE, part of Spirax Group – a FTSE100 company, is entering an exciting phase of growth, and we’re looking for an experienced Operations Director to lead the next chapter. This pivotal role will take ownership of all manufacturing, engineering, and operational activities, embedding lean principles, driving delivery performance, and building high-performing teams. You’ll be responsible for leading and aligning the Safety, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Continuous Improvement, and Engineering functions, while fostering strong collaboration across the business.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute an operations strategy aligned to growth objectives.
• Drive performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & Teamwork (SQDCT).
• Embed lean manufacturing tools and principles (5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, SMED, TPM, one-piece flow).
• Lead the implementation of the Spirax Operational Excellence Framework.
• Build and sustain self-directed teams with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Champion change management initiatives and mitigate operational risks.
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure cohesive, end-to-end operational performance.

What You’ll Bring

• Senior leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
• Strong understanding of Engineered-to-Order (ETO) products.
• Proven success applying lean manufacturing principles to improve performance.
• A track record in leading transformation initiatives and delivering measurable results.
• Experience building self-directed teams and developing leadership capability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Exposure to Spirax Operational Excellence Framework (or similar models).
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt preferred).
• Familiarity with digital manufacturing systems (MES, DMS, eQMS).
