Mechanical Trade Assistant
Location:  Ivanhoe, Victoria 
Employment Type: Short-term contract (Immediate start to April 2026)
Pay Rate:  $44p/h + Super

About the Role We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical Trade Assistant to join our Workshop team for a short-term opportunity.
In this role, you’ll provide mechanical and parts support, assist with repairs and servicing of vehicles and equipment, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical support to Workshop and trade staff.
• Source, receive, and store parts as required.
• Complete allocated work to the required standard, on time and cost-effectively.
• Carry out basic repairs to vehicles, plant, and equipment in the workshop and on-site.
• Escalate safety concerns regarding vehicles or equipment.
• Ensure servicing aligns with maintenance schedules.
• Comply with OHS, SWMS, and SOPs.
• Stay informed and engaged with new technology, training as needed.

About You

• Relevant Certificate of Proficiency or equivalent experience.
• Experience in fleet maintenance and/or plant/equipment repairs.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems for heavy vehicles, plant, and light fleet.
• Basic computer and administration skills.
• MR or HR driver’s licence and forklift licence desirable.

Key Selection Criteria

1. Experience in fleet repair and maintenance (light and heavy fleet).
2. Ability to repair and maintain various plant and equipment (e.g., garbage trucks, tractors, mowing equipment).
3. Strong team collaboration and relationship-building skills.
4. Interest in new technology and willingness to learn.
5. Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
