Duration: 3-month contract
Rate:$70.03 per hour
Commencement: Immediate Start
 
About the Role

Our Client, Rio Tinto is looking for two experienced Mechanical Fitters to join the Yarwun team. You’ll be part of a high-performing maintenance crew, working on critical fixed-plant equipment to keep operations running smoothly. This role involves breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and reliability work in a heavy industrial environment that prioritizes safety and teamwork.
 
What We’re Looking For

• Certificate III in Mechanical Fitting or Fitter & Turner
• Experience with fixed-plant maintenance and rotating equipment
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow work instructions
• Skills in pump, gearbox, valve, conveyor, and motor repairs
• Strong safety focus and experience in high-risk environments
• White Card
• Candidates must have Australian working rights
• Local applicants only – must be living in the Yarwun/Gladstone region

 
Nice to Have but Not Essential

• Confined Space & Working at Heights (valid within 2 years)
• Gas Test Atmospheres certification
• High-Risk Licences (Forklift, Dogging)
• Experience in mining, alumina, refinery, or heavy manufacturing
• Familiarity with SAP or similar maintenance systems
