About the Role
Reporting to the Harbour Master, this dynamic 12-month contract role provides crucial support to the Harbour Master’s Office (HMO) to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of port operations.
This is a key opportunity for a marine operations professional to work within a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment, assisting with everything from vessel vetting to incident investigation, port system development, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support contract management and operation of the Port Management and Information System (PMIS) Voyager.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support the Vessel Vetting Process.
- Assist the HMO during emergency management procedures.
- Coordinate HMO approval processes for events
- Monitor and coordinate approvals for ship-related activities such as Hot Work and Bunkering audits.
- Provide technical advice and research support across a range of projects.
- Assist in implementing Pilot Exemption Certificates and Certificates of Local Knowledge.
- Support marine contract execution related to Pilotage, Dredging, and VTMIS operations.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate of Competency – Officer in Charge of a Navigation Watch (OICNW) or equivalent operational marine experience.
- Minimum 1 year in a marine operational shore-based role or similar.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, report writing, and procedural writing skills.
- Sound understanding of marine incident investigation processes and port-related inter-agency functions.
- Experience in project and contract management.
- Excellent stakeholder and customer management capabilities.
- Work in a prime port-side location in Fremantle
