About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) to join the team in Cairns on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for an experienced AME seeking long-term stability in a vibrant regional hub, while contributing to a dynamic, safety-driven workplace.
You will be responsible for performing and certifying maintenance on rotary wing aircraft, mentoring apprentices, and ensuring all work aligns with relevant aviation standards and regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform and certify maintenance tasks on rotary wing aircraft in accordance with company authorisations and applicable aviation regulations (CASR 1998, CAR 1988, CASR 145 MOS).
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards within specified timeframes.
- Conduct independent inspections and sign off on maintenance tasks as authorised.
- Supervise, train, and mentor apprentices while overseeing any contracted maintenance work.
- Report defects or irregularities outside normal maintenance scope to the Responsible Manager.
- Identify and report any workplace safety risks or hazards.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and adapt to evolving operational demands.
About You
You are a qualified and experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in rotary wing aircraft maintenance. You take pride in your work, maintain a meticulous eye for detail, and thrive in a safety-first environment. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills are essential.
You will ideally have:
- An ICAO Aircraft Engineer Licence with B1.3 type ratings (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working to Part 145 MOS standards
- A solid understanding of Human Factors in aviation maintenance
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- A customer-focused, professional approach
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness and eligibility to relocate to Cairns, with a valid driver’s licence and the ability to obtain security clearance
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship (if applicable)
