About the Role
Chandler Macleod is seeking experienced Lawyers
to join our client based in Canberra on a 12-month contract. These roles involve delivering high-quality legal services in a government regulatory environment and contributing to the effective management of complex legal matters.
You will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and practical legal advice across a range of areas, as well as preparing submissions, drafting agreements, supporting policy development, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality legal advice on complex matters, including administrative law, commercial law, employment law, and litigation management.
- Prepare submissions and recommendations to senior executives regarding statutory functions and decision-making.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of legal policy and regulatory proposals.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and frameworks.
- Manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A law degree and admission as a legal practitioner in a Supreme Court of a State or Territory.
- Demonstrated experience providing and managing legal advice in one or more of the following practice areas:
• Administrative law (e.g. freedom of information and privacy)
• Commercial law
• Employment law
• Litigation in a government regulatory environment - Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines.
- Proven ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior lawyers.
