Position Description: Road Workers
Location: Hay, NSW
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: 19/12/2025 (High possibility of extension after Christmas break: 25/12 – 09/01)
Pay Rate:$42.43 per hour + super (PAYG)
Hours: 8.5 hours per day, 76 hours per fortnight
Work Structure: 9-day fortnight

About the Role We are seeking experienced Road Workers to join Transport for NSW in Hay. This role involves performing a variety of routine and physically demanding tasks to maintain and repair road infrastructure, ensuring safety and reliability for all road users.
Key Responsibilities

  • Routine Maintenance Activities:
    • Attend call-outs for urgent repairs
    • Road pavement repairs, including potholes and shoves
    • Install and maintain guard rails, signage, and guide posts
    • Traffic control duties (TC)
    • Rubbish collection and site clean-up
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely and efficiently
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team under the direction of the Team Leader
  • Comply with all safety standards and policies 
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining safe work zones for traffic management
  • Perform manual handling tasks and ensure proper use of PPE
  • Report hazards, incidents, and maintenance needs promptly
Skills & Experience
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Previous experience in road maintenance or civil works (desirable)
Licenses & Tickets Required
  • White Card  
  • WOF(Workplace On Foot)
  • Current Driver’s Licence(Car essential; MR or above highly regarded)
  • Traffic Control (TC) ticket (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to pass a Police Check
