An opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee the operations of a fully accredited NATA laboratory specialising in structural and materials testing. The ideal candidate has experience managing or supervising accredited laboratories, especially within structural or materials testing environments such as steel, concrete, or building construction materials. They demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement, with proven ability to lead teams and manage complex technical processes.

  Key Responsibilities: 
  
• Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and accreditation requirements.
• Manage laboratory personnel and subcontractors, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and technical excellence.
• Supervise testing activities, including sample preparation, failure investigations, and analytical procedures.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment, ensuring ongoing accuracy and reliability.
• Develop, review, and optimize test methods and documentation aligned with ISO 17025 standards.
• Lead internal audits and support continuous improvement initiatives to uphold accreditation.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings effectively to clients, engineers, and regulatory bodies.
• Drive quality assurance processes, including long-term quality (LTQ) control and documentation management.
  Essential Qualifications and Skills: 
  
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or a relevant Trade Qualification with extensive practical experience.
• Demonstrated management of ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratories, with a strong focus on structural materials testing.
• Deep technical expertise in mechanical testing of steel, concrete, plastics, and related products.
• Proven ability to lead failure investigations and develop testing protocols.
• Strong experience with calibration, equipment verification, and Laboratory Quality Management Systems.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical data clearly.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience conducting internal audits and implementing quality control measures.
  Highly Desirable: 
  
• Forklift licence, gantry crane operations, and dogging skills.
• Hands-on experience fabricating test jigs and working with laboratory tools and hand/power tools.
