About the role:

Seeking a Senior Advisor with expertise in managing Apache Attack Helicopter programmes within the Army. The role is vital for supporting acquisition processes, including managing the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case and coordinating Fundamental Inputs into Capability (FIC). The position has been created to strengthen the programme management team during a key phase of the project.
 

  • Work with the executive team to manage and deliver the AH-64E Apache project according to the program requirements and Defence processes.
  • Oversee the project, manage teams, and coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Regularly communicate with foreign governments, military organizations, and industry partners to explain Australian requirements, reduce risks, and support Australian industry involvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships to help deliver the capability effectively.
  • Provide expert advice to the executive team on technical, policy, and project matters related to the Apache helicopter.
  • Support strategic planning, program management, and project execution.
  • Give guidance on Foreign Military Sales processes for acquisition and sustainment.
  • Help identify and achieve capability benefits for Defence.
  • Assist in developing project strategies, plans, and support functions.
  • Prepare and facilitate briefings, workshops, and presentations as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders inside Defence, Australian industry, and foreign partners.
  • Provide expert input for industry engagement, tender evaluations, and negotiations.
  • Advise on training and logistics systems for the AH-64 Apache, from planning to implementation.
  • Mentor and coach project team members on project management, systems engineering, and capability delivery.
  • Carry out other project and program tasks needed to achieve the project’s goals.
  • Assist with general project management activities for the LAND 4503 program when requested by the Commonwealth Representative.


Skills required for this role:
 
  • You will have strong knowledge of the defence industry, especially in aviation, including current support arrangements for aviation platforms.
  • You will have deep understanding of aviation support contracts, including Foreign Military Sales cases, and the ability to interpret and apply logistics requirements within performance-based contracts.
  • You will have strong knowledge of attack aviation platforms, their training systems, and logistics support.
  • You will have experience in evaluating tenders and participating in negotiation processes, including working on Tender Evaluation Working Groups.
  • You will have proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team made up of government and contractor staff.
  • You will have access to additional resources or expertise within your organization that enhance your skills and the overall effectiveness of the services you provide.
  • You will have the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
  • You will have the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
  • NV1 security clearance or higher is mandatory


Benefits:
 
  • May 2026 start 
  • The assignment is scheduled to conclude in June 2028
  • Locations: Brindabella Park, Canberra BC ACT or Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera QLD
  • Daily Rate (including super): $1,350 – $1,550 per day
