IR/ER Advisor

Initial 3-month contract | High likelihood of extension and potential permanency | Hybrid working

About the role
As an IR/ER Advisor, you will support the People and Culture function by managing complex employee relations matters and providing strategic guidance to senior stakeholders. This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is confident navigating high-risk issues, and can balance both operational and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities include:
• End to end case management, handling up to 20 complex matters including workplace disputes, serious misconduct and unlawful termination claims
• Preparing for and attending Fair Work Commission proceedings, conciliations and hearings
• Conducting thorough and legally sound workplace investigations into allegations of discrimination, bullying, harassment and breaches of legislation
• Managing medical-related cases including fitness for work processes and medical incapacity matters
• Providing expert advice on enterprise agreements, awards and broader industrial relations frameworks
• Partnering with senior leaders, HR teams and legal counsel to mitigate workplace risks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industrial instruments

Ideally you will have:
• Strong experience in workplace relations, employment law or a related legal discipline
• Demonstrated experience managing complex investigations and high-risk employee relations matters
• Solid understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009, discrimination law, WHS legislation and relevant case law
• Experience preparing for and representing employers in tribunal environments including conciliations and arbitrations
• Proven capability to manage a diverse caseload and resolve matters efficiently
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to influence senior leaders
• A pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset with strong analytical and communication skills

Contract details
• Initial 3-month contract covering parental leave
• High likelihood of extension and potential permanency, subject to business needs and individual performance
• Hybrid working arrangement
• Flexible daily rate, generally between $365 and $400
