We are seeking a dedicated HR and Rehabilitation Advisor to join our client based in Canberra. This role is a 12 month non on-going position and the successful candidate will provide expert advice and manage complex performance, conduct, and rehabilitation cases, ensuring compliance with legal and departmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer specialised guidance on complex performance, conduct, and rehabilitation cases, including breaches of the Code of Conduct and managing compensation claims.
- Lead and manage performance improvement and conduct investigations, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and policies.
- Prepare detailed case summaries, investigation reports, correspondence, and recommendations for decision-makers.
- Interpret and apply departmental policies, procedures, and legislation to performance and conduct issues.
- Provide timely, practical advice to managers and staff on best practices and procedural requirements.
- Build and nurture effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external investigators.
- Facilitate discussions, mediate disputes, and support dispute resolution processes.
- Contribute to fostering a positive workplace culture that promotes psychosocial wellbeing and safety.
- Proven expertise in performance management, conduct investigations, and rehabilitation case management.
- Strong understanding of procedural fairness principles and case management processes.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage sensitive cases with sound judgement and discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at engaging diverse audiences.
- Skilled in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Capable of analysing complex issues, assessing risks, and developing compliant solutions.
- Tertiary qualifications or accreditation in industrial relations, employment law, HR management, investigations, or a related field are highly desirable.
- Prior experience within the public sector or similar environments is advantageous.
