About the role
We are seeking a skilled Truck Trailer Service Technician to join a busy service team in a modern workshop. This permanent, full-time role focuses on servicing, repairing and reconditioning customer trailers and prime movers to a high standard of safety and quality. You will report to the Workshop Supervisor and work alongside a close-knit team committed to getting the job done right.
Key responsibilities
• Perform mechanical servicing and reconditioning on truck trailers and associated components.
• Diagnose and repair heavy-duty trailer brakes, bearings and air systems.
• Remove, inspect and refit axle and suspension components to specified torque settings.
• Carry out fabrication and repair work as required to return units to service.
• Complete job cards, maintenance records and materials reporting accurately and on time.
• Support workshop efficiency by following site processes, maintaining tools and organising parts.
• Work safely, follow lockout/tagout procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Skills, qualifications and experience
• Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle/Automotive or equivalent experience preferred but not essential.
• Proven experience in automotive, heavy vehicle, transport or commercial plant maintenance.
• Familiarity with heavy trailer brake and air systems is highly regarded.
• Welding and fabrication experience desirable.
• Experience with suspension, wheel alignment and electrical systems an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Commitment to quality workmanship, meeting timelines and following safe work practices.
Physical requirements and licences
• Ability to undertake heavy manual tasks, lifting and working under vehicles.
• Current Australian driver licence.
• Heavy vehicle licences and trade tickets are a plus.
