We are currently recruiting for two Governance Officers
for our client, a Local Council based in Sydney. These are contract roles until 30 June 2026, working 35 hours per week, with a hybrid arrangement (3 days in office, 2 days WFH). The roles are paying $75 per hour + super
and ideally suited to candidates available for an ASAP start.
These positions have been created to support increased workload and backlog within the Governance Team, which currently includes three officers. You’ll be reporting to the Head of Governance and working across a diverse portfolio of governance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide governance support across a range of complex and routine matters.
- Research and develop policy on corporate governance.
- Conduct independent probity reviews of procurement processes.
- Manage and direct complaints handling activities.
- Assess applications under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA).
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and transparency.
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in governance within Local or State Government.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to draft reports, policies, and correspondence.
- Demonstrated experience in either privacy, probity, policy or complaints handling
- GIPA experience is desirable but not essential.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
