We’re looking for a hands-on, Field Commissioning Engineer
to join our client, leading provider of large-scale renewable and energy infrastructure projects. This role is about being out on-site, getting into the detail of HV protection, testing, and commissioning
work across substations, generation sites, and major energy projects.
If you’re experienced with power system protection, SCADA systems, and have practical knowledge of high-voltage equipment testing(transformers, relays, breakers), this role will let you take ownership of commissioning activities and work directly where the projects come alive.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry out testing and commissioning of primary HV equipment: transformers, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, and switchgear.
- Perform secondary injection testing and protection relay testing(including generator/motor protection).
- Configure and test SCADA and communication systems, ensuring seamless integration with protection schemes
- Use industry-standard tools such as Omicron CMC365 and CPC100 to perform protection and system testing
- Analyse results, troubleshoot faults, and provide technical solutions on the spot
- Develop and document commissioning plans, test records, and acceptance reports
- Support project teams, contractors, and client engineers to deliver safe and reliable outcomes
- Background in power systems with a strong focus on HV protection and commissioning
- Solid track record in equipment testing, protection relays, and secondary injection
- Practical experience with SCADA integration and control systems
- Proficiency with protection test sets and equipment: Omicron (CMC365, CPC100), Doble, etc
- Good communicator who can explain technical findings to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable travelling and working at different project sites (remote locations included)
- Proven experience and background as a Field Engineer
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Power Engineering
- 5+ years’ commissioning or protection testing experience in HV environments
- Familiarity with IEC 61850 and modern protection schemes is a plus
- Hands-on field exposure with relays from major OEMs (Siemens, SEL, GE, ABB, Micom/Areva)
