About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Events Officer to lead the strategic planning and seamless delivery of the Annual Event Program. This includes major civic and community events such as Citizenship Ceremonies, Community Awards, and Annual Grant Celebrations.
This role requires an events professional with excellent judgement, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to confidently manage logistics, budgets, compliance, communications, and risk. Candidates will also apply relevant industry knowledge to support problem‑solving and advocacy where required.
There is flexibility in how the 30.4 hours per week are worked across Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities Service Delivery

  • Lead the planning and delivery of the Annual Councillor Event Program.
  • Prepare comprehensive event plans including budgets, timelines, staffing, and risk management.
  • Coordinate cross‑department logistics and external vendor engagement.
  • Manage event approvals and ensure alignment with organisational policies and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, particularly for Citizenship Ceremonies.
  • Oversee on‑site delivery and proactively resolve issues to maintain high standards.
  • Conduct post‑event evaluation and support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to communications and promotional strategies.
  • Engage regularly with stakeholders, partners, and community representatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practice.
Systems & Process
  • Maintain and update the organisation’s community database.
  • Prepare professional correspondence, reports, briefings, presentations, and other organisational records.
  • Raise purchase orders, process invoices, follow up payments and support budget management.
  • Record customer enquiries and requests in designated systems.
  • Manage intranet and website event content.
People & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with strong active‑listening skills.
  • Collaborate with officers across the organisation to support event planning and delivery.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen cross‑team and organisational working relationships.

  • Provide regular progress updates and reports to senior management.
  • Manage resources including budgets, staff, and materials.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide direction to staff supporting event delivery.
  • Make effective decisions related to event planning and execution.

Specialist Knowledge & Skills
  • Background in the events sector with strong understanding of event operations.
  • Knowledge of policies, regulations, and compliance for public events.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage event risk.
Management Skills
  • Strong time‑management and planning capabilities.
  • Experience in budgeting, procurement, and financial controls.
  • Ability to supervise and support staff.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to changing environments.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in Event Management, or relevant experience with a lesser qualification.
  • Experience delivering events involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the local government environment is advantageous.
