We are currently recruiting experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians to support maintenance operations at Rio Tinto’s Boyne Smelters, a critical asset within Rio Tinto’s aluminium operations. These roles suit trades who value structured maintenance work, clear systems and a strong safety culture, while working within a well established heavy industry environment.

Key responsibilities include

  • Maintenance of natural gas assets and electrical systems in line with site standards
  • Instrument calibration and preventative maintenance activities
  • Working with PLC systems including Allen Bradley, variable speed drives and automated plant
  • Supporting defect elimination and asset performance feedback through RTBS
  • Post maintenance commissioning, testing and housekeeping activities
Roster and Conditions
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday (6am to 4pm)
  • No public holiday work
  • Residential role within a heavy industry operating environment
What You Will Need
  • Electrical Trade Certificate
  • Instrumentation certification highly regarded
  • Experience maintaining gas assets preferred
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets advantageous
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance in heavy industry

Duration

Contract lengths vary depending on role and experience, typically ranging from 3 to 6 months, with longer duration contracts available through to August 2026.

This is a residential role only. Applicants must hold full Australian working rights and currently reside in Boyne Island or surrounding areas.
