Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Editor to join their Canberra-based team on a full time temporary contract running from September 2025 through to June 2026.

This role will see you working within a collaborative team environment to deliver high-quality editorial services across a range of complex publications. You will provide professional editing expertise and support in developing, refining, and finalising important documents, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with established style and accessibility standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide structural and substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading across a variety of publications.

  • Collaborate with editors, authors, and multimedia specialists to refine content and ensure consistency in style and expression.

  • Support authors with publication structure, accessibility standards (WCAG), formatting, and graphics.

  • Develop diagrams into finished products in collaboration with multimedia specialists.

  • Liaise with printing and distribution teams to ensure timely delivery of publications.

  • Maintain accurate records of changes and editorial decisions.

  • Provide advice and training to stakeholders in support of publication development.

  • Contribute to terminology development and share knowledge to support continuous improvement.

  • Attend relevant events and meetings as required.

About You We are seeking an experienced editor with:

  • Minimum 3 years’ professional editing experience.

  • Demonstrated experience producing book-length manuscripts in line with style guides.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • High-level organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
