About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with Cardinia Shire Council to recruit a Digital Communications Advisor for a temporary contract through to July. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled digital communicator to support a major website redevelopment and play a key role in enhancing the Council’s digital presence.

This role will be responsible for preparing, uploading, refining and maintaining web content for Council’s new website (built in Drupal), supporting user acceptance testing ahead of the planned late‑April launch, and assisting with early-stage issue resolution post‑go‑live.

Around 20% of the position also supports social media scheduling and management across Council’s platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Website & Digital Content (Approx. 80%)

  • Prepare, write, refine and upload content into the new Drupal CMS
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate, accessible and on-brand
  • Support UAT activities ahead of the website launch
  • Assist in identifying and resolving early website issues post–go-live
  • Maintain and manage ongoing website content to ensure usability and accessibility
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and best practice user experience principles

Social Media (Approx. 20%)
  • Manage and schedule content across Council’s social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • Upload incoming content from internal stakeholders
  • Support content creation, community engagement and message coordination
  • Use analytics to monitor performance and community sentiment

Additional Responsibilities
  • Contribute to content planning and digital communication strategies
  • Support internal teams with digital communications advice (tone, messaging, channels)
  • Liaise with external creatives (photographers, videographers, designers) where required
  • Assist with community engagement and event communications
  • Provide support during crisis or urgent communication needs
About You
You’re an adaptable digital communicator with strong writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and confidence working with multiple stakeholders. You enjoy both hands-on content work and problem‑solving in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Experience
  • Proficiency with Drupal CMS
  • Strong digital writing, editing and content creation skills
  • Experience managing social media content and scheduling
  • Ability to work confidently with stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Understanding of accessibility standards, digital best practice and analytics
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills

Desirable
  • Experience in local or state government
  • Background in communications, journalism, marketing or similar
  • Photography/videography experience (preferred but not essential)
