Design Engineer – Dewatering

Location: Perth CBD
Start Date: March 2026
Contract Length: 12 Months
Roster: 5:2 | 9-hour days

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer – Dewatering to deliver detailed engineering design for water infrastructure projects supporting mining operations. Based in Perth CBD, this role is responsible for producing safe, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions in line with relevant Australian standards.
You will take a lead role in preparing comprehensive design packages, supporting capital projects from concept through to construction, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and high-quality project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hydraulic modelling of pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, and tanks
  • Preparation of complete work packages including construction drawings, scope documentation, and quantity estimates
  • Development of engineering deliverables including pipeline schematics, GA drawings, P&IDs, and equipment selection
  • Input into capital cost estimates, including quantity take-offs and MTO compilation
  • Facilitation of design reviews, field inspections, and stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, project standards, and industry best practice
  • Provide construction-phase technical support, including responses to technical queries and design updates
  • Produce equipment data sheets and evaluate vendor proposals for technical and commercial compliance
  • Coordinate operational readiness requirements
  • Monitor schedule compliance and escalate risks as required
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication regarding design progress, risks, and changes
  • Liaise effectively with other engineering disciplines
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Chemical or Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in mechanical piping systems and pipeline design, ideally within mining or engineering consultancy
  • Experience in mine dewatering projects highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of Australian and relevant international standards within mining and water industries
  • Experience with hydraulic modelling and design documentation
  • Competency in Visio (ArcGIS/ArcMap advantageous)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to deliver work on schedule and within budget
  • Willingness to travel for short site visits as required
