The Opportunity An immediate opportunity is available for an experienced Design Draftsman within a steel manufacturing / structural engineering environment based in Newcastle.

This contract role requires someone who can step in quickly, produce accurate structural and fabrication drawings, and operate confidently in a fast-paced steel environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for structural steel, connections, and assemblies
  
  
• Develop fabrication-ready shop drawings and framing layouts
  
  
• Revise drawings in line with engineering updates and project changes
  
  
• Apply correct dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication notes
  
  
• Collaborate closely with engineers, production teams, and project managers
  
  
• Maintain accurate revision control and drawing registers
  
  

• Demonstrated experience in structural or steel drafting
  
  
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Tekla, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar
  
  
• Practical understanding of steel fabrication and connection detailing
  
  
• Ability to interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications
  
  
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  
  

• $70–$80 per hour (depending on experience)
