Position Title: Data Analytics Manager
Location: Sydney (Hybrid)

About the Role

A Federal Government department is seeking a Data Analytics Manager to lead and develop analytics capabilities, turning complex data into strategic insights that support decision-making and drive outcomes across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing team and influence the data-driven future of government services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a high-performing analytics team, fostering a culture of delivery, upskilling, and continuous improvement in Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics practices.
  • Partner with the Director of Business Intelligence and Analytics to shape and implement the organisation’s data and analytics strategy.
  • Oversee enterprise analytics architecture, including enterprise data models, metadata management, and data pipelines.
  • Drive design and operation of data pipelines and transformations leveraging Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and other Azure data platform components.
  • Lead the delivery of advanced analytics and machine learning (ML) initiatives that inform strategic decision-making.
  • Manage and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to ensure rigorous standards in development, testing, and deployment of data products.
  • Prepare high-quality analytics reports and presentations, translating insights for senior executives and decision-makers.
  • Monitor emerging trends in analytics, AI/ML, data engineering, and cloud technologies, providing recommendations for adoption and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and platform integrity standards.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviours and values in all interactions.
  • Participate in team meetings, performance reviews, and organisational development activities.
  • Undertake other duties and projects as reasonably requested.
Key Challenges
  • Deliver meaningful insights to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead a dynamic analytics function that adapts to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Stay ahead of emerging tools and methodologies to enhance the department’s data maturity.
  • Quickly understand new business concepts and organisational services to anticipate needs

Job Requirements
  • Proven experience in data analytics or a related field.
  • Experience leading analytics teams delivering cloud-native data solutions.
  • Technical expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and Azure DevOps.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise data modelling, data warehousing, and analytics architecture.
  • Experience developing and deploying ML models integrated into business operations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and respond with agility to change.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Desired:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Experience in consulting or similar functions.
  • Experience delivering or supporting AI initiatives in the public or private sector.
