About the Role
This hands-on role is focused on the construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure. You will work closely with skilled team members, supervisors, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain plant and machinery used in water/wastewater construction.
- Perform physical labouring tasks (e.g., pipe laying, pump station repairs, infrastructure maintenance).
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients.
- Maintain accurate records including timesheets, work orders, and WHS documentation.
- Ensure safe work practices and compliance with environmental and quality standards.
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Competency operating plant machinery (e.g., backhoe, tipper truck, front-end loader).
- Basic mechanical knowledge and strong physical fitness for labouring tasks.
- Digital literacy with devices and software (e.g., tablets, MS Office, SCADA).
- Skilled in the use of pipe lasers and dumpy levels.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong safety mindset.
- Current Class C driver licence (manual) and White Card.
- Immunisation against Hepatitis A & B (or willingness to participate).
- Understanding of WHS, environmental, and risk management principles.
- Certificate III in Water Operations or Civil Construction (Pipe Laying).
- HR licence and additional tickets (e.g., Confined Spaces, Traffic Control, Chainsaw Level 1).
- Familiarity with engineering plans and GPS location equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant SafeWork NSW Codes and excavation legislation.
