Chandler Macleod is currently seeking a skilled Construction Officer
for an ongoing opportunity with a reputable Local Government agency based in Ballina. This role is ideal for an experienced utilities or civil construction professional who is passionate about contributing to essential community infrastructure. Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you’ll play a vital part in the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Shire’s water and wastewater assets, helping ensure safe, reliable services for the local community. The role involves operating and maintaining a range of plant and machinery to support day-to-day works, while adhering to safety, quality and operational standards. You will also provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, supporting efficient operations and positive community outcomes.
What You Will Be Doing
- Operating and maintaining a variety of plant and machinery to support water and wastewater utilities construction and maintenance projects
- Carrying out labouring tasks including the laying of pipes and the construction, repair and maintenance of pipelines, tanks, valve pits, manholes and small sewer pump stations
- Undertaking work across the Engineering Works Section and performing duties aligned with your skills, competencies, and training
- Ensuring all plant and equipment is operated safely and in line with quality and operational standards
- Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Hold a Class C Manual Driver’s Licence, White Card, and Hepatitis A/B vaccinations (or willingness to obtain)
- Possess relevant plant tickets
- Have demonstrated experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure
- Competent in operating a backhoe and other plant such as tipper trucks and loaders
- Confident using pipe lasers and dumpy levels
- Ongoing casual employment supporting critical community infrastructure
- Opportunity to gain valuable experience within the Local Government sector
- Competitive pay rate: Grade 4 - 5 (rate dependant on experience)
$35.15 - $37.35 per hour
