Communications Team Leader
Raymond Terrace | 35 hours per week
Temporary opportunity to 31 July 2026
TEMP Casual Rate: $63.75 per hour 

A local government organisation is seeking an experienced Communications Team Leader to guide a high-performing team delivering creative, strategic and transparent communications that connect the stories, people and places of the community.

This is a leadership role suited to someone who combines political awareness with strong operational capability. You’ll be confident managing competing priorities, advising senior stakeholders, and delivering clear messaging in a complex public sector environment.

About the Role Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Coordinator, you will:

  • Lead a team across communications, public relations, marketing, media management and graphic design

  • Deliver strategic communication and engagement plans

  • Oversee media management and support crisis communications

  • Manage the organisation’s social media presence and digital content

  • Ensure brand alignment across all communications

  • Lead internal communications initiatives to strengthen staff engagement

  • Analyse campaign performance and improve outcomes

About You You will bring:

  • A degree in Communications, Marketing, Media or related discipline

  • Proven experience leading and motivating teams

  • Extensive knowledge of media management and the contemporary media landscape

  • Strong writing, editing and plain-English communication skills

  • Demonstrated project management capability

  • Experience managing social media and digital communications

  • Competence using Adobe Creative Suite

  • Political judgement and the confidence to make sound decisions under pressure

Experience within local government or a similarly complex organisation will be highly regarded.
