Communications Team Leader
Raymond Terrace | 35 hours per week

TEMP Casual Rate: $63.75 per hour
A local government organisation is seeking an experienced Communications Team Leader to guide a high-performing team delivering creative, strategic and transparent communications that connect the stories, people and places of the community.
This is a leadership role suited to someone who combines political awareness with strong operational capability. You’ll be confident managing competing priorities, advising senior stakeholders, and delivering clear messaging in a complex public sector environment.
About the Role Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Coordinator, you will:
- Lead a team across communications, public relations, marketing, media management and graphic design
- Deliver strategic communication and engagement plans
- Oversee media management and support crisis communications
- Manage the organisation’s social media presence and digital content
- Ensure brand alignment across all communications
- Lead internal communications initiatives to strengthen staff engagement
- Analyse campaign performance and improve outcomes
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, Media or related discipline
- Proven experience leading and motivating teams
- Extensive knowledge of media management and the contemporary media landscape
- Strong writing, editing and plain-English communication skills
- Demonstrated project management capability
- Experience managing social media and digital communications
- Competence using Adobe Creative Suite
- Political judgement and the confidence to make sound decisions under pressure
