About the Role
We’re seeking a Communications Manager to lead a small team of three direct reports for a State Government agency on a 3-month contract. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will provide strategic direction across internal and external communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage corporate communications, media, public relations, social media, and website content.
- Develop and implement communication and engagement strategies to enhance the agency’s brand and reputation.
- Oversee reputation and issues management, ensuring timely and transparent communication.
- Manage sponsorship and grant programs aligned to organisational priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three direct reports, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Liaise with the Minister’s Office on significant media events and public announcements.
- Proven experience in strategic communications, media management, and stakeholder engagement, ideally within government.
- Strong leadership experience managing a small team.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple channels.
- Experience in reputation management and crisis communications.
- Knowledge of public sector communication protocols.
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, PR, Media, or related field desirable.
- Lead a communications function within the WA Public Sector.

- Central Perth location close to public transport.
- Competitive hourly rate aligned to Level 7/8 classification.
