Collections Officer
Contract: 3 Month Assignment (Possible Extension)
Rate:$48.12 per hour + Super
Location: Bowen Hills-Based | Possible Hybrid Arrangement

We are seeking a motivated and client-focused Collections Officer to join a fast-paced collections team. This 3-month contract offers the potential for extension and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on client experience through high-quality accounts management.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Collections Team Lead, you will manage end-to-end co-contribution collections for a large portfolio of low-value accounts. You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and families, guiding them through payment options with care and confidence, and supporting every conversation with accurate, consistent reporting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume, detail-driven environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about providing exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a high volume of low-value co-contribution accounts
  • Make inbound and outbound calls to clients, following up on overdue payments professionally and compassionately
  • Negotiate payment plans and resolve account-related queries on the spot
  • Set up direct debits, process payments, and ensure all information is recorded accurately
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues with clear context and recommendations
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track performance, trends, and risks
  • Support continuous improvements in collections workflows and client experience
Requirements
  • 2+ years’ experience in collections, credit control, or strong interest in building a career in the space
  • Confident making high-volume outbound calls with a client-first approach
  • Strong communication skills, able to adjust tone, pace, and style appropriately
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation abilities
  • Comfortable speaking with older Australians and handling sensitive conversations
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (especially Excel)
  • Resilient, organised, and solutions-focused mindset
