Are you ready to make a strategic impact on high-value procurement decisions? We are currently seeking a Category Management Specialist
to join our client’s team in Leederville. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to complex and strategic procurement initiatives that deliver real commercial, risk, and safety benefits to the organisation.
This role is a part time role, 3 days per week and offered on a 3 month contract.
About the Role
As a Category Management Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering specialist advice and services across high-value, complex, and strategic procurement categories. You’ll lead sourcing strategy development, market analysis, and supplier engagement activities that align with our corporate goals and optimise contract outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commercially advantageous sourcing strategies using market intelligence, research, and stakeholder input
- Collaborate with Contract Owners and key stakeholders to align procurement strategies with corporate objectives
- Provide subject matter expertise in category management processes and coach team members as needed
- Lead high-value commercial negotiations and liaise with Legal on contract terms and departures
- Oversee post-award contract management, supplier performance, and formal communications to protect corporate interests
- Prepare comprehensive procurement documentation including Sourcing Strategies, Recommendation for Award, and Board Papers
We’re looking for someone who can bring deep commercial insight and a strategic mindset to category management, with the ability to influence outcomes across the business.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing and category management best practices
- Substantial experience in complex sourcing, supplier negotiations, and post-award contract management
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing commercial strategies and managing supplier performance
- Experience working in a large, multi-disciplinary or geographically dispersed organisation—ideally in engineering, mining, infrastructure, or utilities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
- Degree qualified in Commerce, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline
- CIPS qualification (completed or in progress) is highly regarded
- Familiarity with WA Public Sector Procurement is an advantage
