CAD Draftsperson – Heavy Equipment| Mackay | Full-Time Permanent

Are you an experienced CAD professional with a passion for designing and modifying heavy machinery? We’re seeking a skilled CAD Draftsperson to join a dynamic team in Mackay. This is a full-time, permanent role offering stability, career growth, and the chance to work on diverse projects across the mining, sugar, and heavy earth-moving equipment industries.

You’ll be involved in creating precise designs, improving existing components, and collaborating with workshop and site teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Some site travel within the Mackay region is required.


What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in CAD drafting for heavy equipment or industrial applications
  • Strong knowledge of mining, sugar processing, and earth-moving machinery design
  • Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and produce accurate, detailed drawings
  • Problem-solving skills with experience redesigning components for improved performance
  • Excellent communication skills for working with internal teams and on-site personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and quality

Desirable Skills
  • Background in machining or mechanical fitting, with an understanding of manufacturing and repair processes
  • Experience with 3D modelling tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor)
  • Familiarity with safety standards and compliance requirements for mining and industrial sites
  • Experience mentoring apprentices or junior team members

Preferred Education & Experience
  • Recognised technical qualification or extensive on-the-job experience
  • Practical experience in workshop environments involving heavy earth-moving or similar equipment
  • Proven track record in designing for mining, sugar, or heavy industry sectors

Other Requirements
  • Willingness to undertake site visits and occasional travel within the Mackay region
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong commitment to safety, legislative standards, and quality assurance
