Overview
We’re partnering with a leading education organisation seeking an Education Funding Analyst to support the allocation of more than $1 billion in government funding and $200 million in staffing resources across Sydney schools.
This role is ideal for someone who has worked with school census cycles, student characteristics data, enrolment trends, funding models or staffing allocations.

The Opportunity
This role sits in a specialist team responsible for allocating government funding and internal resources across schools. You’ll review and cleanse census submissions, support the allocation process, and prepare clear reporting for finance and leadership teams — all while building strong relationships with principals and other key stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prepare board‑level reports covering trends, anomalies, forecasts and variance explanations.
  • Identify key drivers of variance at school level and compare results against budget forecasts.
  • Review Power BI dashboards and prepare data for handover to the ITS Data team for SQL and BI automation.
  • Interpret data variances across student movement, religion, visa status, Indigenous identification, cultural background, year cohorts and campus structures.
  • Prepare and cleanse data files for government submissions (Census, Student Background Data, Address Collection).
What You Bring
  • Experience in education funding, census, enrolment reporting, or regulated data environments.
  • Confident stakeholder management — especially with senior school‑based leaders.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel (pivots, lookups, dashboards, cleansing).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with large datasets.
  • Experience in highly regulated sectors such as education, healthcare, finance, aged care or government.
  • Ability to work effectively during peak “blackout” periods each year.
