Belt Picker

About the role
Join our team at Hemmant, working Monday - Friday with overtime available (weekdays and some weekends). In this role, you will be responsible for picking and sorting scrap metal from a conveyor line. On-the-job training provided, with potential for permanent employment and career growth. 

Pay: $37.50/hr + penalty rates for overtime.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Pick and sort scrap metals from running conveyor belt
• Remove contaminants to maintain the quality of materials
• Monitor the conveyor belt speed and functionality
• Notify maintenance or supervisors of any mechanical issues
• Adhere to workplace safety procedures
• Maintain cleanliness in the yard and operational areas

• Ability to learn how to quickly and accurately identify different types of metal
• Experience in scrap recycling, construction or manufacturing is highly advantageous
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced yard environment
• A positive mindset with a general willingness to learn
