About the Role

Our client is currently seeking a Government Relations Adviser on a casual 6-month contract to support the Office of the Chief Executive within a government department. This role has been created to strengthen communication and engagement with government stakeholders. You’ll provide vital advice, compile research, and produce documentation that helps ensure projects and policies align with government priorities and directions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting professional correspondence for government officials and offices
  • Conducting research and preparing strategic advice to support decision-making
  • Building and maintaining relationships with government departments and stakeholders
  • Ensuring all communication and documentation align with government policies and organisational goals
  • Managing multiple priorities, operating efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Providing the Minister’s Office with timely updates and relevant policy insights
About You
The ideal candidate will have a background in policy, communications, or political affairs, or extensive experience working within government. You enjoy working in fast-paced environments, possess excellent written communication skills, and have a keen political awareness. You’re confident managing competing priorities and delivering advice with integrity and professionalism.

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in policy, communications, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of government processes and political environments
  • Ability to operate efficiently with multiple competing priorities
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Experience liaising with government officials or policymakers
