About the Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Payroll Officer
to join our client’s Payroll Services team within the South Australian Government. Reporting to the Operational Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for non-medical employees.
This role involves processing both autopay and manual timesheets, managing leave bookings, penalties, overtime, and call-backs. You’ll also handle employee maintenance, HR system entries, EFT payments, and provide exceptional customer service to resolve payroll-related queries.
Key Responsibilities
- Process pay files and support pay-related operations
- Perform master data entry, timesheet coding, and leave application processing
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries
- Deliver high-quality customer service via phone and email
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily targets and shared goals
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and solve problems

Essential Requirements
- Current National Police Clearance
- Experience in payroll (Chris21 experience highly desirable)
- Background in customer service, ideally in a call centre
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel – Intermediate level)
- Strong data entry skills (minimum 40wpm)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage high volumes of work and meet strict deadlines
- Recent admin/data entry experience is highly desirable
- Demonstrated reliability and commitment
