Are you an experienced rehabilitation case manager seeking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic government environment? We are now hiring a dedicated APS6 Rehabilitation Case Manager for a six-month labour hire engagement in Canberra. This role offers the chance to work on complex claims, coordinate return-to-work initiatives, and support employees’ wellbeing — all within a collaborative, high-performing team committed to public service excellence.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience managing workers’ compensation claims and rehabilitation within a government, APS, or similar setting
  • Strong understanding of Comcare claims processes, the SRC Act, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, particularly in sensitive conversations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases with high attention to detail and sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Competency in assessing and applying health, safety, and legal requirements in case management
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience navigating the APS Integrated Leadership System (ILS)
  • Formal qualifications in Human Resources, Law, Psychology, or related fields
  • Knowledge of working within or alongside rehabilitation providers and legal teams
  • Prior experience in high-pressure, emotionally charged case environments
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Law, Psychology, or related fields strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience managing complex rehabilitation or workers’ compensation cases
  • Experience working within the APS or a similar government framework
Other Requirements:
  • Baseline security clearance is mandatory
  • Ability to work on-site in Canberra three days per week
  • Willingness to adhere to all workplace health and safety standards and confidentiality protocols
