Chandler Macleod is seeking a dedicated Records Management Officer to support the efficient operation of our client based in Canberra for a full time 6 month contact with further potential extension. What You'll Do:
- Manage day-to-day records management operations in line with defined procedures, supporting the commitment to accurate and accessible information.
- Provide expert advice on records management processes to staff members, ensuring adherence to policies and best practices.
- Assist in reviewing and updating records management processes and manuals to align with evolving standards.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements, contributing to continuous improvement in records and information governance.
- Implement and support the migration of records from Content Manager to SharePoint, ensuring smooth transition and compliance with department-wide instructions.
- Coordinate, process, and manage FOI requests, including preparing documents for decision-makers and ensuring statutory timeframes and legal obligations are met.
- Draft formal decision letters, internal and external correspondence, and compile statistical reports.
- Collaborate with Legal Services and other internal teams to support FOI and data management activities.
- Assist with internal and external review processes, complaint handling, and uphold governance standards to improve FOI practices.
- Perform additional duties as required within your skill level to support the Operations Branch.
- Strong knowledge of records management principles, frameworks, and classification schemes.
- Experience supporting document management systems, preferably Content Manager and SharePoint.
- Proven ability to assist with FOI processes, including document review, drafting correspondence, and managing statutory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise, liaise, and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to support compliance and audit requirements.
- Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures independently.
- Knowledge of government recordkeeping standards and APS-specific classifications.
- Experience with content migration projects or related IT system support.
- Familiarity with legal and statutory frameworks related to FOI and information management.
- Previous experience working within a government or public sector environment.
- Australian Government or equivalent experience in records management or administrative support roles.
- A relevant qualification in Records Management, Information Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience working on FOI processes and compliance.
- Must be eligible for baseline security clearance or ability to obtain it.
- Ability to work in Canberra, with potential flexibility; travel is not anticipated.
