AO6 – Senior Communications Advisor
2-Year Assignment | Buderim Location | Hybrid | $77–$82 per hour + super | Government role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join a high-profile program of works on the Sunshine Coast. This role will play a key part in delivering effective communications and stakeholder engagement strategies that support major infrastructure projects across the region.
As the Senior Communications Advisor, you’ll lead compelling communications and stakeholder initiatives that drive understanding, inspire community confidence, and connect people to the exciting progress happening around them. Whether it’s telling stories about local community benefits or planning engagement strategies that ensure smooth journeys ahead, you’ll thrive in this unique role centred around growth and transformation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage strategic communication plans and campaigns.
  • Work alongside project delivery teams to craft messaging that highlights social and economic benefits.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships with contractors, community groups, and local partners.
  • Create innovative communication materials—media releases, newsletters, and social content—that keep the public engaged and informed.
  • Provide expert advice to senior leaders and project teams on communication and engagement strategies.
  • Anticipate challenges and design proactive strategies to keep communication flowing.

About you:
  • Background in communications, stakeholder engagement, or PR (government or infrastructure experience highly regarded).
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure or transport projects (advantageous).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage diverse communities and stakeholders with sensitivity.
  • Government experience and understanding of balancing community and organisational priorities.
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, PR, or a related field (desirable).
  • IAP2 Certification (highly regarded).
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
