Financial Management Specialist – Contract (Until June 2026)
Location: Brisbane CBD, QLD 



Are you a hands-on finance professional with a passion for improving financial practices in complex environments? A leading infrastructure-focused organisation is seeking a Financial Management Specialist to join a strategic Finance Management Improvement Project. This is a unique contract opportunity to make a tangible impact on financial frameworks and reporting processes.




About the Role
You will play a pivotal role in enhancing financial management practices across the organisation, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role is project-focused and does not include ongoing business-as-usual financial operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of improved financial management frameworks, tools, and processes.
  • Providing expert advice on budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement in financial processes and systems.
  • Analysing financial data to support decision-making and project performance tracking.
  • Engaging with stakeholders, facilitating workshops, and supporting capability uplift initiatives.



About You
The ideal candidate is delivery-focused, collaborative, and comfortable navigating complex, low-maturity environments. You are solutions-oriented, hands-on, and confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.




Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (CPA/CA desirable).
  • Extensive experience in financial management within asset-heavy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, controls, and reporting frameworks, including AASB for Asset Management.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex financial data and deliver practical outcomes.
  • High proficiency in financial software and tools (Excel, ERP systems, Power BI).
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and directly contribute to project deliverables.


Desirable
  • Experience in transformation or continuous improvement programs in low-maturity or high-growth environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups and adapt to ambiguity.
  • Experience embedding improved financial practices within operational teams.
  • Government experince is highly regarded.



This is a contract role until June 2026, offering the opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project while developing your expertise in strategic financial management within a complex infrastructure environment.
