Compliance and Regulatory Officer – VPS5 Equivalent
State Government | Melbourne CBD | 6-month contract 

We are currently seeking a Compliance and Regulatory Officer to join a high-performing team within a Victorian State Government department. This VPS5-level role is based in the Melbourne CBD and offers a 6-month contract.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for assessing the compliance of schools, school boarding premises, and related providers against minimum registration standards. You will also contribute to regulatory projects, develop policy advice, and work closely with a broad range of stakeholders across Victoria’s education sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting compliance assessments of registered schools and school boarding premises
  • Preparing high-quality reports, briefs, and technical documents
  • Engaging with stakeholders across government, independent, and Catholic school sectors
  • Liaising with reviewers and financial assessors to evaluate compliance matters
  • Contributing to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting regulatory and assurance projects aligned with division priorities
We are looking for someone with:
  • Experience in regulation, compliance, legal, or assurance environments
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships with professionalism and credibility
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of public sector governance, service delivery, and risk management
  • The ability to navigate complex issues, exercise sound judgement, and influence outcomes
  • A collaborative approach and resilience in high-pressure or sensitive situations
Additional information:
  • VPS5-equivalent contract
  • Based in the Melbourne CBD, hybrid working available
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
